Location: Cleveland, OH. iTrader: ( 1) Heated steering wheel not working. So my car has about 700 miles on it. This morning I was using the heated steering wheel but after about 10 minutes I felt no more heat. I checked the button and the light was off, tried turning it onnothing. So I turned the car off then back on and tried again, still

When I turn the driver's side heated seat on, it turns on and stays on for a few minutes, the seat gets nice and toasty and then the heated seat turns itself off. The heated steering wheel, passenger seat, and rear seats all stay on indefinitely but the driver's does not. I ran the carly code reader and pulled an internal code: 8029A5
There are a few variants of the E90 fuse box (having wired my heated seats last week I know all about it!) but in general when you look in at the fuse box, the relays concerned are on the left hand side. There's more than one. You should hear an audible click when you turn the heated rear window on (I do, my car is a 04/2010 build).
iTrader: ( 0) ^ You need the M Performance Seats or the Sportsters and harness from AMX Max to plug right in and retain your oem heated seat button, I believe. I am not sure how the standard Recaro heaters plug in, but they have a dual stage element with a button on the base/bracket of the seat if you go this route. Bump for confirmation.

More than likely your coils are due. This could also be a result of bmw's battery management system. If the voltage is too low or if the car believes your battery is too old, it will start to shut down power draws based on "crucialness", heated seats being one of the first.
I bought a Corbin seat and wired with the BMW plugs and it doesn't work either, so something with the bike and not the seats seems to be the direction things are pointing. I checked the voltage in the plug for the front and it shows 8.3 volts with the heat turned off in the menu and 10.3 volts with the heat turned on, regardless of setting.

The electronic seat heating control switches off the power supply to the heating mats if the battery voltage in the vehicle is less than 11.4 V ±0.3 V. The function LEDs however remain on. Power supply to the heating mats is restored when the battery voltage is greater than 12.2 V ±0.3 V for at least 5 seconds.
My routine is this: turn on seat power, adjust seat, turn off seat power. That way, there's no '2 minute delay' if you ever need to adjust the seat. Silly, but that's the way it is. I have '06 E90 seats. Oh, and I must add - I bought 2 seats, and the pass. seatback 'tilt' function was broken.

The passenger seat switch is on it's left side (by the key latch) and is an old school toggle. Also you might also check if passenger seat is heating.
