Hi. I have a 2011 Ford Focus estate which has developed a problem with the rear lights which I can not figure out. The offside door lights have stopped working. I have swapped the nearside lights onto the offside and the same thing happens with that light unit. And the offside works on the nearside.

This version has limited support for the early Focus MK3.5. However after a short period Ford changed the hardware numbers of the MK3.5 IPC and BCM. These vehicles are not supported by the FoCCCus program. The Forscan program or the Ford IDS diagnostic system are much more suitible for the Focus MK3.5. 3.

After doing this the new light worked but then as I drove away. the dash lights and tail lights and license plate light would not work.
It could be worn or dirty or both. You could remove it and spray it with electrical cleaner. As I recall, on the Focus if you unplug the connector from the brake light switch, the brake lights will stay on. This could help you when testing all of the rear lamps. You say that the centre mounted lamp on the boot is OK.

This is not a problem caused by the brake pedal switch (both of the plunger switches located at the pedal test ok). With the car ignition on and the transmission in park, no pressure on the brake

Ambers are always on, tail lights always on, vanity light always on and bright as [][][][][][]*, people think I'm in reverse at night. Even the dash appears lit up during the day, not 100% on this. Ambient light in drivers door has been broken since day 1. Setting the lights to the 2nd setting "parking lights" doesn't kill the headlights and DLRs.
2013 Focus Hatchback tail lights not working. I was trying to swap out the OEM tail lights to some aftermarket ones. And the aftermarket ones did not quite work after the swap. Everything works before I start up the car (engine on). However, the tail lights do not work after I start up the car. Reverse works, signal works, brake works, not the
You were right. My problems were the result of "pinched wires" in the area of the unbilical between the car body and the rear hatch, causing an open circuit to the third brake light and a short circuit to the brake lights. Problem was repaired at dealership and a cost of 2 hours diagnostic and repair labour. Approximately $200.oo Canadian dollars.
